It was the only film directed by Charles Laughton. It is a film noir from the American classic period that tells the story of a man who had hidden a large amount of stolen money in his daughter’s doll before being arrested. Once in prison, dreaming big about money, he attracts the attention of his cellmate, the fake Reverend Harry Powell (Robert Mitchum), a serial killer, despite being imprisoned for a minor crime. When released, the reverend goes in search of the money.
