Tunisian producer and DJ, Deena Abdelwahed arrives in France at the age of 26 after having made her mark in Tunisia by participating in Arabstazy Collective. Her hybrid DJ sets at the forefront of subcultures, including her DJ set at Sonar in 2017 (Top 10 NY Times festival) reveal the young Tunisian at festivals and events that demand rigorous clubbing (Boiler Room, Concrete, Room for Resitance, Säule / Berghain, among others). Novelty and daring alone count for a place on Deena’s playlists.

In 2020, Deena Abdelwahed returns with a new EP, Dhakar, that is taking her message back to the dance floor. Far from personal identification, these four new tracks continue to focus on the sonic influences of her home region, whether in terms of rhythmic structure, sampling or other local sources. Dhakar translates from Arabic to “the male” or “masculine”. It represents a record loaded with meaningful messages, set to stir audiences across borders.

The artist’s first album moved the epicentre of contemporary electronic music south: “Khonnar” was released in 2018 by InFiné.
